8.1. Web-based Portal

One of the key deliverables for this project was to provide easy access to the information for all partner countries and interested mining companies and organisations via a web-based system such as MIRMgate – Minerals Industry Risk Management Gateway.

MIRMgate is a dedicated portal sponsored and supported by the University of Queensland’s Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC) and a number of Australian minerals companies and mining industry peak bodies. MIRMgate provides a central repository for documents specifically focussed on safety and risk management within the Australian minerals industry.

Determination of the needs of such web-based access was reviewed with CSIRO expertise for compatibility with the desired objectives. Discussions with MISHC obtained agreement in principle that there would be no conflict of interest and that the scope of the project fits with the philosophy of the portal.
