7.1.1. Rapid Response

A rapid, effective response at the source is critical. This relates to people on the job recognising that there is a problem and responding appropriately. Such response could be as simple as knowing how to use a fire extinguisher and using it in the early stages of a fire; making timely changes to the ventilation circuit, like closing a regulator or changing the location of a monitoring point to better detect dangerous gas levels.
