This design guideline (MDG)  identifies the aspects of locomotive design assessed prior to approval for use in New South Wales coal mines. The necessary controls, brakes, operational environments, labelling and ergonomics of locomotives (both diesel and electric) are addressed along with the appropriate tests to be carried out.
