Fatality Caused Through The Operation Of A Vehicle Loading Crane

Information:

A contractor was unloading items from the tray of a truck using a vehicle loading crane fitted to the rear of the truck. During the operation, the crane jib was slewed over the operating zone for the crane controls. in performing the manoeuvre, the contractor inadvertently operated the jib raise/lower control lever whilst the jib was directly over the crane control position. This caused the jib of the crane to strike and crush him against the control panel.  As a result , the contractor sustained fatal injuries.
