A guideline for the design and commissioning of drum winders at underground coal mines in New South Wales. Sections are included on ropes, braking systems, mechanical devices, drift haulages, shaft winders, and shaft sinking winders. Chapters on commissioning and testing procedures, and safety audits outline the procedures required for each of these tasks. Note that MDG No 12 regulates frictional winders.
